Mad River debuts the innovative new ultralite material that has everyone talking.
Since Mad River Canoe has been producing canoes for over 40 years, there are fewer people around who realize that Mad River started as a composite canoe manufacturer, producing the classic Malecite and Explorer in Fiberglass back in the day. We've built composite canoes throughout our history but for many years that production occurred side-by-side with Royalex canoe production. With the retirement of Royalex in April, 2014, Mad River Canoe has found itself returning to its' roots and building quality composite canoes in more lay-ups than ever before.
Mad River Canoe has brought our Ultralite laminate over to the Expedition Series and Serenade Series, resulting in a weight loss of 8-12 lbs. respectively, depending on model. This makes these extremely efficient hulls all the more efficient and fun to paddle with no loss of durability.
