With a durable, foam-cored Royalex® by Spartech® hull deadening sound and insulating from cold water, the beamy (39” wide) shallow arch hull of the Angler 14 offers rock-solid stability and a superb platform for hunting, fishing, bird-watching and photography. It is quick, short, and light-weight, making it easy to handle on and off the water, responsive on the water, and tolerant of paddlers on a learning curve who want a stable “poke around” canoe.

AluminumNEW for 2011 is the lightest aluminum gunwale ever deployed on a Mad River Canoe. Two part design accommodates hulls of varying thicknesses from Royalex to Composite while providing necessary stiffness to maintain hull shape. The aluminum gunwale is affixed to hull via rivets.

VinylNEW for 2011, Mad River Canoes' vinyl gunwale features a box-style construction that encloses a "L" shaped aluminum extrusion. The internal extrusion provides the strength to support seats, thwarts, and yokes while the vinyl exterior shrugs off bumps and impacts. A "bulbed" outwale deflects wash and spray away from hull for drier paddling.

Royalex® by Spartech® is a vacuum-formed sheet laminate consisting of external vinyl layers enclosing multiple ABS plastic layers and a foam core. Each sheet is designed specifically for the intended use of that canoe. All combinations are durable and moderately light-weight. It is resistant to impact, yet has "memory" that allows it to absorb impact and return to original form. Royalex® by Spartech® is repairable should the worst-case scenario ever occur.
