Dave Cornthwaite: Team Mad River Canoe

Mad River Canoe is proud to say this year we have our very first sponsor. Meet Dave Cornthwaite, an adventurer, author, and motivational speaker who plans to swim 1000 miles from Chamberlain, SD to St. Louis, MO.  The expedition begins on August 10th where he plans to swim an average of 20 miles a day for 50 days in hopes of reaching his final destination by the Oct. 1. This is the 7th journey of his Expedition 1000 project, 25 journeys of 1000 miles or more, each using a different form of non-motorised transport. Click here to read more about his Expedition 1000!

As Cornthwaite swims down the Missouri his team will be paddling alongside (he won't allow motors on any expeditions) mainly by stand up paddleboards. With a team of 7 on the water, a sturdy touring canoe was needed, especially one with a good capacity. Reasons being: to carry the majority of team gear and also to provide a stable platform for filming and photography.
